What to Wear: Free to Breathe Yoga Challenge

As much as I love a good party, sometimes socializing makes going to the gym mandatory. Good thing, there’s always a new fitness studio opening, spin for a good cause, or group yoga class happening around town. Even better? This week’s Free To Breathe Yoga Challenge at the Baltimore Zoo is great to combine socializing with your workout! Ladies, here are my picks for what to wear to the outdoor yoga event benefiting the fight against lung cancer.

Personally – unless I’m out and about being fancy or have a client meeting – I’m in workout clothes. Over the years, I’ve found that the key to looking good in fitness attire starts with the pants.

I LOVE this pair from Victoria Sport – I think I own ten pairs. In case you didn’t know, Victoria Sport (AKA Victoria’s Secret’s workout line) makes the most amazing workout pants. They are great for all types of training. The waist is high enough so you can bend over without flashing the rest of your class. The best part is that they come in various lengths. I recommend going into the store (I go to the one in Harbor Place) and try them on for size. If you’re lucky enough to fit into the standard length (which I am not), you can buy them in store. Otherwise, figure out your sizing in store, and order online. {Victoria’s Secret Knockout Tight, $69.50, Victoria’s Secret, The Gallery at Harbor Place, 200 E Pratt Street} (Photo courtesy www.victoriasecret.com)

Once you have the pants figured out, you need a good sports bra. This one from Under Armour is one of my favorites. It’s cute enough to wear alone if you’re hot in class, but looks good under a shirt as well. You can find this and a ton of other options at Under Armour’s flagship in Harbor East {Under Armour – 700 S President St} (Photo courtesy of www.underarmour.com)

I’m not into the whole fitness tee from a fitness company thing. The second you put one on with a pair of workout pants, your look screams “I just came from the gym.” Instead, I work out in tees and tanks that I would wear outside the gym. This one by Free People at South Moon Under in Harbor East is great. I like the white because it’s see-through enough that you get a hint of your sports bra, but not so see through that you look inappropriate. HINT: If you find the tank to be a little loose for a workout, tie it in a cute knot. {South Moon Under – 815 Aliceanna St} (Photo courtesy of www.freepeople.com)

As far as footwear is concerned, a simple flip-flop is the way to go for an event like this. My personal favorite are these gold Havaianas Slim Gold Flip-Flops. You just can’t go wrong with these. AND…they’re on sale at South Moon Under in Harbor East for $15.39. (Photo courtesy of www.southmoonunder.com)

I’m all about a leather tote, but NOT for putting on the ground at an outdoor fitness class. Instead, this tote by Ah!Dorned from Sassanova is ideal for a yoga class. It’s big enough to carry your yoga mat. And, since it’s it’s made of PVC -instead of leather – you can just wipe it down if it gets a little dirty. {Sassanova Baltimore, 805 Aliceanna St.} (Photo courtesy www.ahdorned.com)

This water bottle from Sassanova Baltimore is the perfect way to top off your look (and stay hydrated). Not to mention, it’s so unique that you won’t accidentally grab and swig someone else’s! (Photo courtesy www.mybkr.com)

With these pieces, you’ll be able to raise money for a good cause in style AND carry on with your day sans a wardrobe change. Namaste!
