The Baltimore Station, a residential treatment program supporting veterans and others transitioning from homelessness and substance use disorder to self-sufficiency, celebrated the 26th anniversary of its annual Homerun for Recoveryfundraiser by raising more than $170,000, the most raised in the event’s history. On Thursday, April 19, more than 420 people attended the event at PBR Baltimorein Power Plant Live. Presented by Fortego, a cybersecurity firm based in Columbia, MD, Homerun for Recoverywas also sponsored by M&T Bank, Len the Plumber,Maryland Multi-Housing Association (MMHA),and Modu Techamong many other local businesses and individuals.
Homerun for Recovery’sfundraising effort is driven by its signature live and silent auctions. Winning bidders went home with packages including vacations to Paris, Costa Rica and Chicago, tickets and a travel package to the Indy 500, and luxury box accommodations and game-day privileges at Camden Yards, to name a few. Silent auction packages included brewery and wine tours, concert tickets, gift certificates from many of the city’s finest restaurants and hotels, and collectors’ items such as autographed sports memorabilia.
All contributions brought in by the 2018 Homerun for Recovery event directly support the veterans and homeless men enrolled in The Baltimore Station’s therapeutic residential recovery program. For more information about The Baltimore Station, visit www.baltimorestation.org.
